Within the context of what is frequently referred to as the Climate Emergency, we here in the UK and across the globe are engaged in a transition from unsustainable, climate changing hydrocarbon-based energy systems, to clean, sustainable and renewable energy. This Transition does not however, simply happen overnight. Some sectors can change quite quickly however, there is likely to be a requirement to maintain significant legacy offshore hydrocarbon activities for some time into the future in order to maintain social stability and standards of living.
Many offshore renewable energy technologies and systems are still under development and so there is a range of technology maturities, and with this, comes commercial risk.
This CDP course will therefore:
- Explore the implications related to global warming and climate change risks, as industries transition to net zero.
- Consider government targets within a UK, EU and non-EU context, with a view to identification of opportunities and new business models.
- Finally, provide you with the fundamental tools for decision-making under uncertainty.
This CPD course will impart an appreciation of the impact of climate change to traditional businesses within the UK, EU and non-EU context, and evaluate the requirements and influencing factors towards net-zero strategies applied to Offshore Energy.
