Course Description
This short course provides a comprehensive overview of the global offshore wind sector and its pivotal role in driving the energy transition and achieving net‑zero emissions.
It begins with a worldwide perspective on how wind and offshore wind energy contribute to decarbonisation strategies, before focusing on the European Union’s policy framework, targets, and regulatory mechanisms supporting large‑scale deployment.
Participants will gain insight into auction systems used across mature EU markets, examining their main characteristics, strengths, and contrasting approaches.
The course then broadens to assess non‑EU contexts, comparing the policies, targets, and incentive schemes of established offshore wind markets with those of emerging regions that are shaping prospective frameworks to foster growth and attract investment. By combining technical, policy, and market insights, the course offers attendees a thorough understanding of global trends influencing the future of offshore wind.
